In addition to traditional lecture room fitted with full audio
visual teaching aids, various computer based simulation equipment
has been installed in the Training Centre.
Full Mission Ship Simulators
- Full Mission Ship Simulator
- Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Simulator
- Vessel Traffic Services Simulator
The Full Mission Ship Simulator rooms provide an angle of view from 150 degree to 210 degree and are equipped with fully functional navigation and communication consoles. A simulated marine environment is created by means of projection on the curved screen or LED display wall / panels in different simulator rooms. In addition, a separate instructor station is used to monitor the progress of the simulation exercise or interact with the trainees in different replica bridges.
A 3D graphic database management software is available
to create and edit specific ship types and exercise areas
to suit clients’ training need. In addition to normal
navigational conditions, various unusual and emergency situations
can be simulated to meet different training objective, for
instance, unfavourable weather, sea, tidal and traffic conditions,
engine and steering breakdown etc.

Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Simulator
The simulation system is a computer-based software which fully complies with “International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers” (STCW) requirements and the specific requirements of the Office of the Communications Authority, Hong Kong SAR Government for GMDSS training and examination. The simulator comprises an instructor station and 6 trainee workplaces.
With dedicated simulated communication device, the trainees can conduct full range of practices to simulate different situations including distress and emergency.
Vessel Traffic Service Simulator
The simulator comprises an instructor console and two trainee workplaces. The training facilities and the interface of the simulator are identical to the monitoring facilities of Hong Kong Vessel Traffic Centre.
The instructor is able to create various scenarios to
simulate normal traffic condition as well as certain emergency
situations to meet different training objectives.
