Ship Compliance and Quality Assurance

Most of the international maritime Conventions have been extended to Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Marine Department (HKMD) has committed to ensure Hong Kong registered ships in compliance with these international Conventions and domestic regulations.

Quality Assurance

To monitor and upkeep the quality of Hong Kong registered ships, HKMD has implemented a quality control system, consisting the features of quality assessment; quality assurance inspections; and monitoring the performance of Recognized Organizations (ROs). Under this quality assurance arrangement, HKMD will take a preventive approach to encourage ship management companies to identify the root causes of quality deterioration of their ships so that they can formulate and implement appropriate solutions to improve the ship's quality.
