| HK Awarded Best Seaport in Asia | ||

| The Director of Marine, Mr Tsui Shung-yiu,
and Chairman of the Port and Maritime Board, Mr Peter Thompson,
today (Friday) received on behalf of the Port of Hong Kong the
Best Asian Seaport Award in the 13th Asian Freight Industry Awards
(AFIA). Organised annually by a freight industry newspaper "Cargonews Asia", the AFIA was an Asian freight poll where more than 13,000 readers were asked to vote for the best service providers in 37 industry-specific categories during the past year. Hong Kong ranks first on a list of nine Asian Seaports while Singapore and Kobe, Japan are the second and third runners-up respectively. Friday, 12 March 1999 |
