Inquiry into collision of vessels ordered
The Director of Marine, Mr Tsui Shung-yiu, has ordered a Local Marine Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collision of Mainland vessels "Quan Tai" and "Xing Long" off Ninepin Group early this (Saturday) morning.

In accordance with the powers granted under section 58 of the Shipping and Port Control Ordinance, the Director of Marine appointed Mr Simon Tse Siu-hung, Senior Surveyor of Ships, to be the Investigating Officer.

Meanwhile, the search and rescue operation mounted by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre for the five missing crew members from the sunken vessel "Quan Tai" is continuing.

One fixed wing aircraft from the Government Flying Service (GFS), four police launches, four fireboats and one Marine Department launch are conducting searches at the scene.

Earlier this morning, the GFS helicopters have already conducted four air searches at the scene, while divers from the Fire Services Department have conducted eight search operations on the sunken vessel so far.
