Public urged to offer information on vessel collision
The Marine Department today (Tuesday) appeals to witnesses of the collision case involving two local pleasure vessels with licence numbers "28296" and "93098" to come forward to offer assistance to an inquiry.

A 24-hour telephone hotline 2545 0181 and a facsimile hotline 2541 7714 have been set up to collect information on the incident.

The two vessels collided off Cheung Fat Estate on the northern side of Tsing Yi Island at about 5.20 am on January 10, resulting in the death of four passengers on board "93098".

The Director of Marine has ordered a local marine inquiry into the incident, and two surveyors of the department have been appointed to take charge of the inquiry.

People on board passing-by vessels or other people who have witnessed the incident are urged to make use of the telephone and facsimile hotlines to provide information.
