The Director of Marine, Mr Tsui Shung-yiu,
has ordered a preliminary inquiry into a collision case in which
a Hong Kong registered ship "FLORES" was reported to
have collided with an underwater object in Latitude 22 degrees
17.4 minutes North, Longitude 113 degrees 50.5 minutes East off
Tai O, Lantau last Saturday (May 2), a spokesman for Marine Department
said today (Wednesday).
The order was made under Section 51(1) of the Merchant Shipping
Ordinance (Cap. 281). Senior Surveyors of Ship Tse Siu-hung and
Mak Tak-cheong have been appointed to inquire into the circumstances
attending the incident, the spokesman added.
