Special arrangements have been made to cope
with the expected surge in passengers using the cross-boundary
ferries at China Ferry Terminal during the Chinese New Year holiday
period.
A Marine Department spokesman said today (February 11): "
The Marine Department has recently completed works on the extension
of the departure hall of the China Ferry Terminal.
"The enlargement of the waiting hall there now provides
greater space for the convenience of departing passengers during
peak hours in the morning."
The spokesman noted that the Immigration Department would deploy
additional manpower to China Ferry Terminal during the holiday
period to cope with the increased workload.
These measures are aimed at ensuring that inward and outward
clearance of ferry passengers will be smooth and the usual short
waiting time for the inspection of documents will be maintained.
"The Marine Department will arrange additional staff to
help with the movement of passengers and to offer assistance in
case of need," the spokesman added.
