The sixth issue of the Hong Kong Maritime
News, a quarterly periodical produced by the Marine Department,
has just been published and uploaded onto the Department's website
for easy access by members of the public and maritime trades.
The publication is one of the Marine Department's efforts to promote
shipping operations and encourage exchanges among shipping companies
within the maritime circles in both local and overseas communities.
Each of the issues carries latest reports about the significant
developments that are of fundamental importance to the shipping
industry. As a publication initiated by the Administration, it
also serves as a useful reference for the shipping community.
Topics carried in the sixth issue include: (1) Marine chief
promotes Hong Kong's shipping industry in Vancouver; (2) Hong
Kong and Shenzhen ports play complementary roles; (3) Search-and-rescue
experts from over 30 countries meet in Hong Kong; (4) Hong Kong
plays an active role in Port State Control Officers Seminar in
South Korea; (5) Hong Kong contributes to international study
to improve bulk carrier safety; (6) Marine Department's new training
center opens; and (7) New initiatives to cut time lag for release
of port statistics via Internet.
Members of the public who are interested in any of the above
topics are welcome to visit the Marine Department's website at:
