The Marine Department has issued Marine Department
Notice (MDN) No. 1 of 2001 to list out all the notices that are
still in force as at December 31, 2000.
MDNs are issued from time to time to disseminate information to
the shipping sector and related industries on various subjects,
a Marine Department spokesman said today (February 2).
"As some MDNs are effective only within a specific time
frame, an updated list will be issued once every six months to
remind readers of those MDNs which are still in force," he
said.
Of the effective notices in the updated list, six are related
to navigation warnings, 36 are related to establishment, withdrawal
and changes of port facilities, 40 are related to marine works,
23 are related to statutory requirements, 16 are related to port
operations procedures, 27 are related to navigational and seamanship
safety practices, while 15 are miscellaneous information.
Free copies of MDN No.1 of 2001 are available from Central Marine
Office on the third floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central.
It can also be downloaded from the Marine Department homepage
