Facilities
In addition to traditional lecture room fitted with full audio
visual teaching aids, various computer based simulation equipment
has been installed in the Training Centre.
- Full Mission Ship Simulator
- Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Simulator
- Vessel Traffic Services Simulator
Full Mission Ship Simulator
The Full Mission Ship Simulator comprises of a main bridge
and a second bridge, each with a 210 degree angle of view.
Both bridges are equipped with fully functional navigation
and communication consoles. A virtual marine environment is
created with the projection on the curved screen and plasma
display. In addition, a separate instructor station is used
to monitor and interact with the simulation exercises conducted
in the replica bridges.
A 3D graphic database management software is available
to create and edit specific ship types and exercise areas
to suit clients’ training need. In addition to normal
navigational conditions, various unusual and emergency situations
can be simulated to meet different training objective, for
instance, unfavourable weather, sea, tidal and traffic conditions,
engine and steering breakdown etc.

Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Simulator
The simulation system is a computer based software which fully
complies with STCW 95 requirements and the specific requirement
of the Office of the Telecommunications Authority, Hong Kong
SAR Government for GMDSS training and examination. The simulator
comprises an instructor station and 6 trainee workplaces.
With dedicated communication device, full range of practices
can be conducted to simulate different situations including
distress and emergency.

Vessel Traffic Service Simulator
The simulator comprises an instructor console and two trainee
workplaces. The graphical user interface of the VTS monitoring
software is identical to the one in the Hong Kong Vessel
Traffic Centre.
The instructor is able to create various scenarios to
simulate normal traffic condition as well as certain emergency
situations to meet different training objectives.
